President Pinsel rang the bell, Greeter Doug Fendon led us in the pledge and prayer and soon departing Song Meister Dennis Kratohwil produced the lyrics for “Love and Marriage”

 

-Pat Hart and his bride celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss on Friday.

 

-Jon Robb thanked all the volunteers for their work on the Fundraiser. We raised over $31k!

 

-Doug Fendon recently attended his grandson’s first birthday party in Arizona.

 

-Rich Babjak’s birthday is November 13^th. Bill Taranowski celebrated 10 years as a Rotarian.

 

-Elliott will have his bus at the meeting on 11/30 to collect the holiday gifts.

 

-Howard Jaffe gave us a synopsis of the Spring Fundraiser. The date is March 11, 2023 and will feature a performance by Second City at LHS at 7:30 pm. There will be an after party at Mickey Finn’s following the performance with silent auction items and a raffle. Our goal is to sell 550 to 600 tickets with 3 levels of pricing.

Dennis Kratohwil conducted a best joke contest.

 

Today’s program was Emily Petway from Givenkind. Givenkind is a non-profit for non-profits. They do reverse logistics of items that companies no longer want or can sell. Rather than sending items to the landfill Givenkind takes them in and redistributes them to various charities for use by needy individuals. They have a 20,000 ft2 warehouse in Mundelein and have placed over $8 mil of goods to hundreds of charities in the area.

 

Givenkind thinks of themselves as problem solvers. They only work with 501c3 charities. They would like introductions to the charities we help. They conduct tours of their facility and do volunteer days where people can contribute by working in their warehouse. Their website is: www.givenkind .org. Their number is :847-802-8977.
