President Tom Gore rang the big, beautiful bell, Larry Neal gave the Pledge, Greeter Jim Laverdiere led us in prayer, and there was no song!

BRAGS:
-Happi Datt helped put together a grant in India to treat hemophilia. The leader of the grant received a medal from the Indian government.
-Kim Smith’s daughter moved to Des Moines and bought her first house.
-Howard Jaffe survived a cruise with Tom Miller and had back surgery last week.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-Our last Assistant Governor, Malvena Lube is joining the Club.
-New member Andy Herrmann was inducted into the Club. He has been a realtor in Libertyville for 30 years and serves on the Economic Development Commission in Libertyville.
-Howard Jaffe gave us a fundraiser update. We have sold 190 tickets with 486 left to go. We have 13 partner restaurants for a preshow dinner, 4 cast members are on the main stage at Second City. We will be working at Wine about Winter and Howard will begin assigning seats next week. Everyone will get a flyer with event info.
-We are working on a the slate of officers and directors for next year. We hope to finish by the end of February. We need a Treasurer to replace the retiring Tom Miller.

FUN & FROLICS:
-Glenn Garlick gave us a quiz on Second City trivia.  

PROGRAM:
Today’s program featured Dan Palmeiri, build manager for the Bed Ministry of St. Joseph. Dan has lived in Libertyville for 50 years and attended St Joseph’s grade school. 
 Sleep in Heavenly Peace was started in Idaho to provide beds for needy children. Dan Harris realized there was a need for beds for children in Lake County and called Sleep to see if he could start a chapter here. The first bed was built and delivered in November of 2018. The group estimates that 2% of Lake County families don’t have beds for their kids. Beds are provided for kids ages 3 to 17.
The group meets every Tuesday evening to build beds. There are 27 different shapes and sizes of lumber and 66 screws that go into each bed. The volunteers are ministers. A local lumber yard in Round Lake sells the group lumber at cost. Chris Freeman’s wife is the admin for the CEO of ITW. They donate the fasteners. They have a donated van for deliveries. The van holds 6 beds. They also provide bedding and mattresses. They delivered 548 beds in 2024 and a total of 2391 beds since 2018 or about 1 bed per day. Their motto is: "Building Beds, Delivering Hope”.
