We opened our meeting with a pledge and a prayer followed by singing and then we hummed  a little ditty, since our songmeister did not feel that we were up to singing this week.

 

Carol August bragged about a ladies’ trip she took to Lake Geneva.  They all went to the Pirates Cove, which she highly recommends.

 

 

Steve Risley took a lovely trip to Nashville, where he was joined by lots of relatives and where he celebrated thirty-six years of marital bliss.

 

Dennis Kratohwil has returned from Florida, on what he was not sure would be a pleasure trip when he took off.  However, his second floor location saved him from most of the hurricane damage, and he ended up with only a broken window.  Unfortunately, it looks like his neighborhood gold course will be closed for from three to six months.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We are hosting the Pumpkin Fest this Saturday morning, October 15,  at Cook Park.  Volunteers are needed at 8:30 a.m. to help with the set up.

Our club will be cleaning up the Highway 137 between Butterfield and Milwaukee Avenue on Saturday October 22.  Meet at 7:00 a.m. in the Sunset Foods parking lot, and I can guarantee that you will have a great time.

 

We still need to sell more tickets for our upcoming Spirits, Wine and Cigar Festiva coming up  on October 29, at the Libertyville Civic Center from 3:00 to 6:00.

 

The kitchen at Lambs Farm will not be available on Wednesday November 9 for our meeting. We will probably have the meeting anyway and bring our own food, although the details have not been worked out yet.

 

Our president also announced that he still intends to wheel Tony Collins for failing to chair his assigned fun and frolics date.  It sounds like he means business.

 

Jeff Harger oversaw a game of liars poker, which everyone participated in.  There seemed to be a little confusion about the rules, but Jeff did receive a nomination for holding the longest fun & frolics.  Now we just need someone to create that award.

 

Our speakers this week were Jonathon Rosales and Mark Wilson from the Mundelein Tool Library.  The Mundelein Tool Library is a non-profit organization which is staffed entirely by volunteers, and which lends tools to individuals for jobs around their homes.  The library has been in operation for about a year, and they are located just off Hawley Street on property which the Village of Mundelein leases to them at no charge.

 

Since many people cannot afford some of the tools that are required to keep homes maintained, the tool library performs a valuable public service.  Membership in the library costs $20.00 a year and is open to all residents of Lake County.  Tools can be borrowed for a week and can be renewed for an additional week.  The Mundelein Tool Library has approximately 1,500 tools in its inventory, and around ninety are lent out at any point in time.     

 

We collected $250.00 from our attendees to support the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.

 

Our weekly prize this time was $26.00, while our progressive pot had grown to $916.00 with only 21 cards left.  President Pinsel card was drawn first and in the type of bold action that no doubt assisted him in his rise to his leadership role in our organization, he went for the big bucks.  Unfortunately, he then drew the four of diamonds and went home empty handed.  David Potts next won the $26.00 weekly prize and left with a smile on his face.
