President Diana Taylor presided at our meeting today and our guest speaker led us in a chorus of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”
BRAGS:
John McDonald bragged that his oldest grandson has received an internship at Price Waterhouse, and another grandson scored the winning goal in his Lacrosse game.
Dave Ritland informed us that he has found a network engineer for the new company he has started, which will allow him to concentrate on sales.
Teri Dreher has returned from a Caribbean cruise with a nice sun tan.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Our president sadly informed us that on April 1 the club quarterly dues are going up by $3.00.
On March 27 there will be a meeting on our summer fund-raiser at the Pet Factory.
We have set the date for our next year winter fund-raiser to be March 13, 2020. It will have a Saint Patrick Day’s theme.
Diana Taylor still has some items from our recent auction in her office, which she wishes someone would claim.
FUN AND FROLICS
Ron Lapin led us in a stroll down memory lane, by quizzing us on how much concession stand items use to cost at Wrigley Field in the 1960s and 1970s. With quarter hot dogs and fifty cent beers it made you wonder how anyone could afford not to be Cubs fan.
PROGRAM:
John Nepper a motivational speaker and former band leader in the Kenosha School System presented our program this week. He spoke about positive thinking being able to create peak experiences in an ordinary world, and he proposed that you needed to harness your intentions to achieve the maximum. He also said we need to control our mindset to have peak experiences by the language we use. One needs to reword his intentions to turn them into positive statements, and he recommends that we state our intentions in the first person and in the present tense. He also says that smiling is important, because it changes the way you feel.
RAFFLE:
Dave Ritland failed to draw the ace of spades to win our progressive pot of $64.00. However, after winning the weekly raffle of $23.00, Jon Robb left the meeting with a smile on his face and a determination in his heart to have a peak experience.
