Libertyville Sunrise Rotary
BULLETIN – May 14, 2025

President Robb opened the meeting, Bill Rickert gave the Pledge, Jim Curtis led us in prayer, and returning Song Meister, Dennis Kratohwil took us through a version of “Take me out to the ball game”.
 
BRAGS:
-Bill Taranowski’s son received an English award from CLC for being an outstanding student.
-Tom Zengler’s daughter Loren will be attending Harvard for a master’s with NO tuition assistance.
-Rick Mittelman is working with Reading Power, a group that tries to raise reading scores 3 days per week. One student went from 0 to 77 in reading.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-We will have no morning meeting on May 28th. We will have a community service project at Heart of the City’s end of season event in Waukegan.
-Sign up with Robin O’Connor to participate in the Libertyville Days Parade on June 14th.
 
FUN & FROLICS:
-Rob Likus entertained us with a quiz on acronyms.
 
PROGRAM:
Today’s program was the recognition of our sponsors for the fundraiser. Event chair Howard Jaffe summarized the event. It was the 3rd straight community event with Second City and included 11 local restaurants participating with dinners prior to the event at LHS. We raised about $150,000 and 100% will be given away to a variety of local organizations and to update Rotary Sunrise Park in downtown Libertyville. The Club has given away over $2.7 million to charities since our founding. Howard thanked our sponsors, which include:
TITLE Sponsor: City of Hope Cancer Center which hosted a morning meeting and will conduct their “Walk for Hope” in October.
PLATINUM Sponsors: Libertyville Bank & Trust who have been a sponsor for 30 years, and McGrath Acura.
GOLD Sponsors: Condell Community Hospital, Aldridge Family Foundation, Midway Wealth Partners - Rich Babjak, Pet Factory – Tom Miller, Northwestern Mutual – Dennis Kratohwil.

-Daily: $37 won by Elliot Pinsel donated back to the Club.

ROTARY MINUTE:

Dennis Kratohwil led us in the Four Way Test.
