Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Bulletin April 26, 2023

President Pinsel presided this week, and we opened our meeting with a pledge and a prayer.

 

 

Eliot Pinsel bragged that he won the progressive and the weekly drawing last week.

 

Doug Fendon bragged that he visited the Civil War Museum in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which he thought was a fascinating place.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Rich Babjak announced that Misericordia was not doing its on the street fund drive this year, but that he would be sending out his on line effort to raise money for the organization.

 

Rich Babjak also said that he was sending out a survey to the club to help him determine what we wanted done during his presidency.

 

Scott Hezner announced that he will be speaking at the Rotary training in Harper College this Saturday.  Personally I think that he should have brought this up as a brag.

 

Bob Zamor mentioned that we will be holding a blood drive right after our morning meeting on June 7.  Blood banks recommend that you eat a healthy low fat meal right before you donate, so maybe he should ask the kitchen to put out extra fruit and oatmeal that morning.

 

Pat Hart reminded everyone about what a good time they can have just by coming to the highway cleanup at 7:00 a.m. on this Saturday April 29.   This will also count for a makeup.

 

Carol August conducted a quiz this week on the NFL draft.  I learned that the Denver Broncos have never had the first draft, but so far I have not figured out a way to use that knowledge to make money.

 

This week we inducted Glenn Garlick into the club. This was actually a transfer from another club.  Glenn is a long term active Rotarian, who is currently our district leader for polio eradication and veterans affairs.  He has joined us for breakfast on a number of occasions in the past, and he says he chose the Libertyville Sunrise Club, because we use money the right way.

 

Our program this week was Howard Jaffe presenting certificates of appreciation to key sponsors and supporters of our recent fundraiser, several of whom were in attendance at our Wednesday meeting.

On Wednesday we had $30.00 in the weekly raffle, and unfortunately with Eliot Pinsel having wiped us out again, we only had $30.00 in the progressive pot as well with 54 cards left.  Robin O’Connor won the daily prize and Dave Potts failed to win our piddly excuse for a grand prize when he pulled the five of clubs.
