Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Bulletin August 2, 2023

Rich Babjak led the meeting this week, and he opened with a prayer, a pledge and a song.

 

Elliot Pinsel bragged about having visited the Ford Museum in Michigan, which he says is a fascinating place, and about how Jim Wogan was so overwhelmed by the award he received at last week’s meeting.

 

Scott Hezner bragged about the great job his son and daughter in law are doing as the parents of twins.

 

Tom Zengeler reported the tremendous two week trip he took to Jacksonville Wyoming, where he went four wheeling over the mountains.

 

 

Seb Karasu had some very exciting stuff to inform us about this week, but unfortunately she was on Zoom, where the sound failed to come through, so no one else knows what she was talking about.  The visual portion of Zoom was doing just fine though, and we could all see that she was very happy about whatever she was reporting.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Pat Hart was awarded a pin for twenty-nine years of perfect attendance in Rotary.

 

Our president informed us that the district is looking for a governor as well as an administrative assistant.  So if anyone believes that these opportunities might offer the type of fulfilling role which you are yearning to play in life, apply quickly, before someone else grabs the glory.

 

On August 30 it will be a fifth Wednesday, and in lieu of a morning meeting, we will have an evening gathering at the Joyful Gourmet.

 

 

We passed the hat around this week and collected $330 for the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.

 

Jeff Harger conducted a quiz on Rotary.  In case you did not know there are 34,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.

 

Departing from our regular program format, we invited a number of representatives of the charities, which our club contributes to, for our weekly breakfast, and the following organizations received checks to support the fine work they do for our community.

All of the charities expressed gratitude for the assistance we have provided them over the years in carrying out their noble missions, and Diana from Equestrian Connection mentioned that they have named a horse after our club.

 

This week Doug Fendon won the weekly prize of $31, while Dennis Kratohwil proved less fortunate when he failed pull the ace of spades from 43 cards to take home the $332 big pot.  Doug Fendon also donated a case of beer as a special prize this week, which went to Howard Jaffe.
