President Tom Zengeler opened the meeting with a pledge and a prayer.

 

 

Pat Schwartz bragged that Zengeler Cleaners donated 150 coats and many other items of clothing to Love Inc.  Tom Zengeler said they were items abandoned by customers most of whom had moved.  He said he was glad he could help, but he would rather have been paid for the cleaning jobs.

 

Jeff Harger bragged that he is celebrating his 44^th wedding anniversary.

 

Tim Dempsey just got his second Covid shot and is ready to party. 

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

In his Rotary Minute President Zengeler pointed out that Rotary is concentrating on helping improve maternal and child health care in April.

 

Tom Miller reports that Jon Robb is at home and took a mile walk at Independence Grove.

 

Diana Taylor informed us that Service Partners of Lake County will have a May 3 Zoom fundraiser with some type of fun game that I did not quite follow, but it sounds like you need a card to play.

 

Bill Rickert announced that he received several recommendations for the club’s Service Above Self award, but he would still like to receive more from our members.

 

There will be a Highway Cleanup on Saturday April 24.  We will meet in the Sunset Foods parking lot at 7:00 a.m.   Notify Pat Hart if you can come.

 

 

 

Greg Hill decided that the approaching Master’s tournament presented a good opportunity for a golf quiz.  I learned that a golf ball has 336 dimples.  That is something I always wanted to know, and now thanks to Greg, I can cross counting the dimples on an actual golf ball off my bucket list.

 

 

 

Our scheduled speaker had to cancel, because of a death in the family.  Tom Gore took the opportunity though to tell us that Blue Star Recyclers will be collecting used electronica on Saturday May 8 between 10:00 and 1:00 in the Sunset Foods parking lot. No appointment is necessary. See the Blue Star Recyclers website for how to sign up for the pick-up. They will also pick up some items on Monday May 10 from people who cannot make the Saturday drop-off.  Certain devices like televisions and monitors will have a charge to leave off.  So spread the word, and if you are available consider volunteering to help. 

 

Tim Dempsey once again won the $29.00 weekly prize, which makes my job easier, since I was able to copy that information off my word processor from the last bulletin I wrote. They do not call him Lucky Tim for noting. Meanwhile John McDonald failed pull the ace of spades out of 42 cards, and the $285.00 progressive pot rolls overs.
