President Jon Robb opened the meeting, and following the Pledge, Carol August gave the prayer, and Song Meister Dennis Kratohwil reminded us of our recent Memorial Day and our forthcoming Flag Day and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. He led us in a stanza of Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American”

BRAGS:
- Carol August gave a brag for Robin O’Connor, whose son is a founding member of the band “Sneezy” and who will be highlighting Libertyville Days Opening Night!!!!
- Larry Neal celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary and surviving another tax season. Larry was happy to just be able to join us again.
- Scott Hezner and Jeff Harger bragged about distributing 28 backpacks to another apprentice class of Local #150! This is the sixth year of the program and there was a sense that this year both instructors and students “got” the Rotary message.
- Elliot Pinsel noted he wouldn’t be around the next couple of weeks, so he wanted to compliment our outgoing President Jon Robb for a great job this year. All acknowledged this. Elliot was proud at being able to share a clean joke with us about a polar bear.
- Not to be outdone, Ron Lapins told a joke about attorneys before bragging about his grandson pitching 2 shutout games for his Deerfield baseball team.
- Rich Babjak bragged about bringing a company to an IPO after years of effort. We think it’s a tech company for space stuff in a Galaxy not too far away.
- Doug Fendon apologized for his buzz cut, blaming his Uzbekistan barber, but bragged about being in Arizona for his grandson’s 2nd birthday.
- Robin O’Connor bragged about her experience as Public Image Director and especially all the special folks she met and organizations she was introduced to.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
- President Robb reminded members about the upcoming Libertyville Parade and encouraged members to volunteer to walk with our Club.
- The Club has purchased a canopy tent for upcoming summer events. A picture was passed around the room.
- President Robb reminded members of our upcoming Installation Dinner on June 25th at Tom Zengeler’s House. He will be looking for RSVPs.
FUN & FROLICS:
Larry Neal quizzed us about Flag Facts for the upcoming Flag Day. Seems we all could take a class before the next Flag Day rolls around.
PROGRAM:
Marilyn Boden and Barbara Porch, from the Village of Antioch, presented today’s program about the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. The “Wall that Heals” is a replica of the permanent memorial in Washington D.C. which contains the names of the over 58 thousand men and women who died in the Vietnam War. The traveling wall is ¾ the size of the Washington D.C. memorial and travels the country. This year, Antioch was one of 31 communities approved for the display of the 154 communities that applied. The Wall can be viewed from July 17th through July 20th at the Tim Osmond Sports Complex, 38 Depot Street, Antioch. They have openings for 192 volunteers and accept donations at their website. Donations received in excess for the support of the Travelling Wall are directed to Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. A video can be viewed at AntiochChamber.org.
