President Doug Fendon opened the meeting and Rick Mittelman led us in the pledge. Jon Robb gave the prayer and Songmeister Steve Kershner led another rousing rendition of "Smile" for the third time this quarter! Glad we bought those new song books!
 
BRAGS:
- Teri Dreher announced the approval of the grant for the project in South Africa. She is planning a Spring friendship exchange trip to South Africa and she is having a fund raiser at the Tranel Group building on December 4th.
- Guest speaker Janelle Moravek bragged that Youth and Family Services raised $ 141,000 at their recent fundraiser. Our own Tucker Olson was the auctioneer.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Ron Lapins' father passed away last Tuesday.
- Pat Hart informed us of Club runner problems. No bulletin for the last two weeks.
- Rick Mittelman announced that the club Holiday Party is December 10th at Fine's.
- the Salvation Army bell ringing event is Saturday December 6th. The schedule is out. Find a sub if you can't make your shift. The bells belong to the Club so the last shift is    asked to bring them back to the next morning meeting.
- Elliot Pinsel has distributed over 600 ornaments. He asks that each gift be wrapped and tagged with the ornament. Drop off is at the Holiday Party.
- Peggy Freese announced that the Club raised more than enough money for 55 Thanksgiving meals for the needy. The excess will go for Christmas dinners.
- Dinner with RI President Gary Huang will be on January 7th.
- Treasurer Bob McConnell reminded us to pay our dues!
 
FUN & FROLICS:
 -Tom Dorow entertained us with a difficult Thanksgiving quiz.
 
Today's program was former Sunrise Rotarian Janelle Moravek, Executive Director of Youth and Family Counseling. Janelle has worked there since 2000.
 
One in every four Americans has a mental disorder. It can happen to anybody at anytime. Only half get the help they need. There are only 59 psychiatric beds in Lake County. The average wait is six weeks to see a psychiatrist. There are 74 licensed psychiatrists in Lake County. Youth and Family Counseling hopes to provide counseling to everyone. Their clients range in age from 3 to 93. They handle about 550 cases per year. They have 5 groups specifically for kids.
 
Youth and Family Counseling is heavily involved in community outreach. Their standard fee is $140.00 per hour but they offer discounts for income and number of family members served. Half of their clients are subsidized. This is their second year working with military veterans and their families. 20% of ER visits are behavioral health related. Patients will get a prescription and a follow up visit.They are referred to groups like Youth and Family Counseling. Transportation is a huge issue.
