Local mystery writer Georgann Prochaska will speak to us Friday about how she creates her stories of two amateur sleuths who solve cases in small towns filled with secrets.  She will share what she’s discovered about storytelling:  those personal things and research that contribute to mysteries in a talk entitled “Where Mysteries Grow.”

Georgann Prochaska, who lives in Hoffman Estates, taught high school for thirty-four years. After retiring, she learned about suspicions and secrets from her mother who had Alzheimer’s Disease.  Those discoveries spun her into writing mysteries.  The Case of the Girl Who Didn’t Smile is the first of the series and was named in the top ten mysteries by Lascaux in 2016. The Case of the Ex Who Plotted Revenge is the third of the series and won second place in the Royal Dragonfly Mysteries contest.  The fifth mystery, Murder Comes to Grindstone, will be launched in 2019.
