Notes From the October 2nd Meeting
President Yesim Sonmez opened the meeting with the Pledge of allegiance and reciting the Four Way Test.

Interact News: 
The Interact Club's inauguration breakfast will be Wednesday, October 18th at 7:30 a.m. An invitation has been sent to HP/HW Rotary Club members.
 
Cynthia Plouché announced that on November 13th, there will be a tour of North Shore HP hospital and lunch. We are thrilled that Bufi Selimos could make this happen. 
 
The Hurricane & Earthquake Relief Effort Committee will send out information on items needed and where the collection sites will be as soon as details have been finalized. 
 
Len Tenner informed the Club World Polio Day is October 24th. There will be a proclamation issued by the City. Stay tuned.

The Day's Program
Neil Dahlmann from the By-Laws Committee presented the proposed changes to the by-laws. The significant changes recommended are:
  • Reduce the board from 15 (5 officers + 10 directors) to 10 members (5 officers + 5 directors)
  • Change the nominating committee from 5 members all being elected at large and excluding the president-elect; to 5 members consisting of: the president -elect as chair; 2 members appointed by the president, and 2 members elected at large from all active members excluding officers, directors or honorary members.
  • A nominee for president-elect has to have been a board member for at least 2 years.
  • Terms of office for Treasurer, Secretary and Director are changed from 1 year to 2 years.
After a lively discussion, Neil announced that a full copy will be sent by email to all members this week. The most critical item is preparing for elections. Other changes will be presented up to July, 2018.
 
Yesin separated the members into four discussion groups:
  • Fellowship and Literacy
  • Scholarship & Charities
  • Membership & Community Service
  • International and Interact
Each group reviewed their current progress and discussed future plans.
