After her meeting with our Board, DG Suzanne Gibson was impressed with our commitment to youth. This year's Rotary Theme is "Connections". She told the story that in 2009 she made connection with a Guatemalan doctor who showed her a poverty stricken area in desperate need of clean water. Based on that connection she, along with her chapter and others, developed a plan to provide water filters to 200 families. This proves that "connections allow progress". She also stated that Conventions allow connections to happen. Many Clubs are getting together to connect. The Rotary Action Plan now includes: - Increase impact
- Expand Rotary reach
- Enhance participant engagement
- Build a family friendly Rotary
- Increase ability to adapt, to attract younger members
DG Gibson explained that Rotary is especially concerned with sustainability to assure that projects are maintained over time. Too many in the past were installed and then forgotten. Suzanne finished with the announcement that the district is running a survey to determine the amount of scholarships awarded in the district. She knows the number is staggering. She also introduced by picture all of the members of her team and concluded with a pitch for the April 24-25, 2020 District Conference.
