President Paul Munk welcomed guests speaker, Phil AndrewJeanne Beckman from the Winnetka Club, Patti Kalal and attendees. Our Speaker led the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance and Club members recited the Four Way Test.
 
Announcements:
This Tuesday, December 3rd is Giving Tuesday. Paul encouraged members to remember The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation funds grants across the globe. Our Club was a recent recipient for the Service Above Self scholarship. New members who have not yet reached a Paul Harris Fellowship pin, can donate $500 and the Rotary Foundation will match that as part of the Jack Blaine Challenge. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The 9th Annual Day of Giving event is hosted at Northwood Junior High School. Students organized clothes, toiletries, food and other necessities by donated by families. across District 112. Other students made blankets, cards and gift bags for local families. The 112 Education Foundation is proud to support this service-learning program. See below for the list of needed items in the article titled "Day of Giving 2019".  Our club member Scott Coren (scoren@cityofhighwood.org) will be coordinating our effort. Volunteers needed for Friday December 6th and especially Saturday morning (the 7th)  from 6 - 10 a.m. when kids are no longer involved. Businesses acting as collection points are both HP and Highwood City Halls, FBHP, HPB&T and at Northwood Junior High.
 
ALSO.....
NSSD 112 and the 112 Education Foundation hosts a robotics tournament each December. This year several "referees" are needed. They will train the day of the event, so no prior knowledge is necessary. The commitment is from 8:30 a.m. -2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 14th with a pizza lunch included.  Contact Bill Steinbach at bsteinbach@nssd112.org. The Interact Club will be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children on December 14th in the afternoon. They are looking for several adults for this event. Please contact Len Tenner.
 
Glenbrook South is looking for volunteers for a parental discussion. Please see Paul Munk.
 
Highland Park Strings will be performing Sunday December 15th at 3 p.m. at HPHS. The concert is free. Rotarians will be acknowledged.
 
Holiday Party!!!
Check your emails for the information about this year's Holiday party.The festivities begin Friday December 13th at 6 p.m. at the home of Fred Orkin and Sylvia Aruffo, 215 Prospect, Highland Park. Mary Beth is once again seeking baby pictures for the game. Please call or email her at 847-432-1500 or mbbretzlauf@comcast.net - she needs the picture ahead of the party. There is a $15-20 dollar limit for the gift exchange (chocolate and wine are highly coveted when it comes time to steal). Members with last names A - I bring an appetizer, J-R bring a side dish and S-Z bring a dessert. Contact Mike Babian  at 847-432-5570 to RSVP by December 10th.
 
December 16th, the Club Assembly will be our last meeting of the year!
