In the past couple of weeks the Grayslake Rotary Club has been pleased to host a couple of interesting people as guests at our Monday meetings. At our club's July 29th meeting, the Rotary District 6440 Governor, Sarah Oliver, was the featured guest and speaker.  Sarah detailed current operations at the district, as well as International and District plans for the upcoming Rotary year.  It was a pleasure for all of our members to get to meet Sarah, and we all look forward to working with her.

The following week, we had Joyce Campbell, President of the Oasis Grayslake Youth Center, visit as our guest.  Joyce updated the club on issues and events at  the Oasis, which of course is one of the focus charities of the Grayslake Rotary Club.

The Oasis opened in April 2008 to provide the teenagers of Grayslake and surrounding communities a safe and stimulating place to go after school and on weekends. Within The Oasis, guests find a friendly and clean environment designed just for them. The Oasis is stocked with video games, high speed wireless internet, flat screen TVs (with movies available to watch) and basic snacks. There is no charge during the week, and a $5 donation is requested on Friday and Saturday. Most weekend evenings, the Oasis features live entertainment with a wide variety of local and regional bands.  More information about the Oasis and upcoming events can be found on the Oasis website.
