Tim Perry, of the State Bank of the Lakes, and past Mayor of Grayslake, was the featured speaker at the March 28th meeting of the Grayslake Rotary.  Mr Perry was hosted by Chip Edwards, and discussed with the club the current economic and business growth climate in Grayslake, from the perspective of one who was involved in much of the planning and execution of what we see today in the community.  While development projects for the former Lake County fairgrounds and the Rt 83/Peterson Road initiative were discussed, other points of broader interest were also covered.  Mr Perry informed us that Grayslake, even in these trying financial times, finds itself debt-free, with $250 million in TARP money paid back to the federal government.  He described positive growth in corporate construction projects, but flatter activity in the retail market for the area.  In all, Mr Perry offered an interesting insight into Grayslake's relative success in planning and financial prudence, and guarded optimism for the community's continued growth and prosperity.
