Executive Director Jeff Nehila describes planned Grayslake Park District projects

Jeff provided a brief overview of his background, and then detailed the ongoing and future planned projects for the Grayslake Park District.  Like all public facilities in the state, the Park District is facing budgetary challenges as it strives to improve the quantity and quality of the services it offers our community.  State funding for improvement projects such as the Jones Island renovation is on a competitive grant basis, so the Park District must successfully promote its plans to the state to realize the full potential of any planned improvements.

Also discussed were ways that organizations such as the Rotary Club can help in the form of monetary contributions or via actual sweat equity on facility cleanup and improvement projects.  The means to sponsor facilities on Park District properties was discussed, as were as fund-raising opportunities, such as the glow stick sales at the 4th of July fireworks event, previously done by the Kiwanis.

The Grayslake Community Park District is a separate government agency established for the purpose of providing leisure programs, parks and recreation facilities for the community. The Grayslake Community Park District is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the Grayslake Community by providing year round leisure services, preserving open space and fostering community pride.
