At the Aug 2nd club meeting, Curt Miller kicked off the club's efforts for a new fundraiser. We will be running the Grayslake Rotary Christmas Tree Decorating Contest, which will generate revenue from artificial tree sales, sponsorships, voting, and the auctioning off of the completed trees. Initial planning objectives were discussed, to include: dates; fund targets, marketing/publicity focus; contest rules; contest prizes; locations, etc.. It was generally agreed to begin tree sales around Halloween and to hold the auction in conjunction with the Grayslake Tree Lighting on Nov 26th.
Jim Bell tentatively volunteered as the project chairman; Curt will pass on current planning details to him. Several members volunteered to research wholesale tree prices and options. Mike Kukulski will chair Contest Rules, Greg Koeppen and Barb Oilschlager will co-chair Marketing/Publicity. Matt Koschmann will chair Budget. All members will be needed to participate in an active manner to make this a successful venture -- please offer your help to Jim and start the gears turning! All committee chairs should prepare initial action plans for Jim before our next meeting on Aug 9.
