Speaker: Mr. Cameel Halim was the youngest of 8 in Cairo, Egypt.  He studied civil engineering at Cairo University before coming to the United States.  He was a member of the Wilmette Rotary Club.  His fascination with clocks, watches, and stained glass led to  a hobby which led to a passion which then led to a new museum in Evanston, the Halim Time & Glass Museum.  He chose Evanston over Chicago because of his love for Evanston.  His collection of clocks and watches is the best in the world.  He also has a fantastic collection of Tiffany Glass and stained glass.  Most of his collection is around 300 years old.
He began his museum in the building that used to be the The Evanston Catholic Women's Club.  During the third year of the expansion and renovation, there was a fire that gutted the entire building.  So, he started over with a new building that would be built as a museum.  He won awards in 2017 for the best construction in Evanston for both the inside and outside of his building.  Some of his collection is permanent, some is rotating.  His American clock collection is special.  The American clock industry began as a result of tariffs, and developed into the first assembly line, long before Henry Ford's line.
Mr. Halim is hoping to attract support from the Evanston business community.  He is hoping for the museum to operate as a self-funding business museum.
