Meeting of November 14, 2019:
 

This week our club hosted its 6th annual "Heads Up, Evanston" community networking luncheon, inviting more than 20 organizations to join in a dialogue on the topic of food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. In 2017, an estimated 1 in 8 Americans were food insecure – that’s 40 million Americans, including more than 12 million children. The Rotary Club of Evanston will focus its fundraising and hands-on service efforts on this topic for the next several years and the November 14 luncheon brought together local leaders to help get the initiative started. Our thanks to the 38 community leaders who joined us for this discussion:
