The Rotary Club of Evanston Charitable Fund

The Rotary Club of Evanston maintains its own charitable fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, which provides grants directly to individuals, community organizations, and charitable organizations. In our commitment to provide service to the community and the world, the Charitable Fund has raised and distributed thousands of dollars annually for Evanston projects and scholarships, along with investment in international projects.

Each year, the fund provides resources to deliver support for:

  • Scholarships to local students. We provide vocational and academic scholarship assistance for graduates of Evanston Township High School to study in Illinois institutes to further their vocation and professional development. Learn more at the ETHS’ College and Career Services office or at our ETHS Scholarships page

  • Community grants. For many years, the Charitable Fund has supported grants to diverse not-for-profit organizations in Evanston looking for support of their initiatives. In 2019, it announced that it will be providing special funding aimed at reducing food insecurity in Evanston as a part of the Rotary Club of Evanston's major initiative on this topic.

  • Hands-on community service projects. The Charitable Fund helps support special service efforts, such as Rebuild Together, which is done in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Evanston Lighthouse.

  • International projects. Our fund has supported many different projects around the world to supplement the volunteer efforts of our club members participating in various on-site, hands-on visits. Examples of these projects and service opportunities include:
  • diagnostic imaging radiology equipment in Guatemala
  • sustainable accessibility to water in Uganda
  • malaria prevention mosquito nets, blankets, and other basic needs in Uganda
  • disaster relief shelter boxes in Myanmar, Pakistan, and Haiti
  • orphanage support in Guatemala
  • economic development project to train Kenyan women in seven villages to produce and sell product (Soap for Water) to support their families
  • International Friendship Garden. The Charitable Fund provides support for maintenance of the International Friendship Garden -- which celebrates international peace and understanding and is open to the public. The Garden is located at the corner of McCormick Blvd. and Bridge Street in Evanston, just south of the Evanston Ecology Center.
