Rotary International Deputy General Secretary Michele Berg will be recognized for her efforts to improve the Evanston community.

Berg, as well as two other community leaders, will be honored at the Chamber’s 99th Annual Celebration & Awards gala on January 24th celebrating their—and the Chamber’s—achievements.

“Michele is an inspiration to the community, not only as a leader of the global service organization that calls Evanston home, but as president of the Evanston Rotary Club and board member of the Evanston Community Foundation” said Rotary International Director of Auditing Services and Evanston Chamber of Commerce board member Dave Stumpf.

Berg has been bringing lasting, positive change to Evanston and communities across the world for more than 20 years through her professional and personal affiliation with Rotary.

“From planting trees at Harbert Park to traveling to Nairobi to honor Rotary’s six Young Innovators at Rotary Day at the United Nations, Michele is passionately engaged at every level of our organization and why we were so proud to nominate her for Nonprofit Person of the Year,” said Stumpf.

While Berg is grateful to be recognized, she confirmed she’s most profoundly impacted by having the opportunity “to work for an organization that allows me to contribute to making the world a better place,” and hopes to motivate others to join Rotary.

“It’s so important to be involved and connected to the community,” said Berg. “Fostering these connections and bringing people together is at the heart of what we do, and I encourage anyone who’s interested to check us out.”
