The William H. Logan Jr. Legacy of Service Award recognizes a pioneer in the community who has made significant contributions to Evanston through their time, action, talents and dedication. Honorees are seen as a role model of civic engagement who have established a history of distinguished service.

Dick Peach has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Evanston for over two decades.   Few people civically engaged in Evanston don’t know, or know of, Dick.  Prior to his retirement, and move to Minnesota with his wife, Shelley, Dick worked tirelessly to help make Evanston the vibrant community it is.
Among the many contributions Dick made to Evanston, he served in leadership positions in numerous community organizations: Evanston Chamber of Commerce, City of Evanston's Liquor Control Board, Evanston Community Foundation, Evanston Environmental Association, Evanston's 4th of July Association, and others.  He also played Santa during Evanston’s winter holiday festivities, and was a regular contributor for the Evanston Roundtable, where he wrote an award-winning column on fishing.

For many years, he and Shelley were the driving force for maintaining the Rotary Club of Evanston’s International Friendship Garden.  And in its more than 100-year history, Dick is the only member of the Rotary Club of Evanston who has served as president, twice.

The William H. Logan Jr. Legacy of Service Award was established in 2020 by the Rotary Club of Evanston and was named for William "Bill" Logan, Evanston's former Chief of Police, who has made significant contributions to the city over the course of his life.  Chief Logan was honored as the first recipient of the award.  Past recipients also include Tom Swigert and Clarence & Wendy Weaver.
