About Our Weekly Meetings

Weekly Rotary club meetings have been an essential element of Rotary's organizational structure since it was founded in 1905.

In many communities in the United States and around the world, Rotary meetings are a vital part of civic leadership and participation. Often, Rotary club members are local leaders or people who are engaged in the community – ranging from elected officials and those who serve on boards and commissions to business executives and entrepreneurs. Weekly Rotary meetings give these individuals an opportunity to become acquainted and to share ideas and resources aimed at addressing community issues.

Members of the Rotary Club of Evanston meet for lunch every Thursday at noon at Rotary International headquarters, 1560 Sherman Ave. in Evanston, Illinois. Because the club meets in Rotary’s international headquarters, it is known as “The Home Club.” Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:15 p.m.

After lunch is served, club announcements and news is shared by a presiding officer – usually the club president. This is followed by a short period in which members can make announcements and share individual news.

Each week features a special program intended to enlighten and inform club members on emerging trends and interesting topics. Speakers are often community leaders (such as the mayor, local state senator, superintendent of schools), business experts, authors, sports figures, local celebrities and others with interesting viewpoints to share. A question and answer period allows club members to interact with the featured speaker.

The public is invited to learn more about Rotary by being a guest at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Evanston. To learn more, contact the club at rcevanston@gmail.com.
