Today's Guests
There were no guests at this morning's meeting.
Today's Winner
Today's winner was Jack, but he did not draw the black tee.  Thank you, Jack, for donating your side-bet winnings to the Charitable Fund to benefit the Annual Fund's Paul Harris Foundation.
Big Brothers Big Sisters
At this morning's meeting, members in attendance had the opportunity to hear Leslie Blake, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County. Leslie discussed the impact just an hour a week over lunch can make in the life of a youth.  Many have lost a parent or guardian for various reasons and are in need of  someone with whom they can spend time and to be a constant in their lives. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides this opportunity. It not only benefits the youth, but can provide the adult with a feeling of fulfillment knowing that they are making a difference in the life of an individual.

Through the generosity of several donors, they are in the process of moving into a new facility that is in need of some renovating. They will gladly accept volunteers willing to help in this endeavor. They also have an upcoming fundraiser called "Bowling For Kids' Sake."  There are various dates, times and venues to help this worthwhile cause.  Please go to their website at bbbsmchenry.org to learn more about opportunities to help out or support their fundraiser.

Joke of the Week

A project manager, a software engineer and a hardware engineer take a break from work and go to the beach for a walk. They find an old lamp, rub it, and a genie pops out. "In return for rescuing me I'll grant you each one wish," says the genie. The software engineer says, "I'd like to be a millionaire who owns a luxury beach resort in the Caribbean." Poof! he disappears. The hardware engineer says, "I'd like to be a millionaire too, but I want to own the world's greatest ski resort." Poof! he disappears. The genie turns to the project manager and says, "So, what do you want?" The manager replies, "I want those two straight back after lunch."

District Conference

Rotary Action & Fellowship Groups
One of President Steve's goals this year is to have at least one member join a Rotary Action Group or Rotary Fellowship Group.  As stated on RI's website, a Rotarian Action Group is an autonomous group of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who are experts in a particular field, such as micro-credit or water and sanitation. More information about these groups and their purpose can be found on RI's website.

Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends from around the world.  Again, more detailed information is available at this link to RI's website.

If you haven't all ready done so, take the time to click on the two links above and see if there may be a group that fits with your interests.  It's a great way to make new friends and to share common interests with Rotarians from around the world.
