A New Member Orientation was held last night at the Cary Park District. An overview of Rotary International, District 6440 and our local club's activities were reviewed for those in attendance. A big shout out to Mary for catering the food for the event. As promised, a copy of the presentation is available in the documents section in clubrunner. Thanks to all that attended.
A big thanks to the Rotarians that attended the food drive last Saturday. It was last minute, but we had enough resources to help make this a successful effort. Photos are available in the "Photo Albums Section" of our website. Hint: look for Phil "boxing" himself into a corner....again. Special thanks to Scott Lind, Dave Miller, Steve Moore, Mary Schepp, Phil Stanko, Joe & Linda Trexler and Joe Turner.
The Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers will be hosting a Coalition/Multi-Club "Social-With-A-Purpose" on Tuesday, May 24, between the hours of 5:30-7:30. The event is a housewarming party for Veteran's Path to Hope. VPH is involved with finding new homes for an average of 30 veterans each month, some with families. Help is needed in providing some basic furnishings for these homes.
Refreshments will be served and a fun time will be had while “doing good in the world”. Please notify Pat if you are able to attend, or register on line.
Members from the Barrington Breakfast Club were present to promote their "$20,000 Cash Raffle" event. Only 400 tickets will be sold. Members at last week's meeting contributed to purchase a ticket on behalf of the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove. If we win, funds will be contributed to the Rotary Park project. Linda Trexler has purchased the ticket. Tickets can be purchased online from 4/02 to 6/30. Click here to learn more.

Ole got a car phone and on his way home on the freeway, he calls up Lena and says, "Oh, Lena, I'm calling you from the freeway on my new car phone." And Lena says, "Be careful, Ole, because on the radio they say that some nut is driving the wrong way on the freeway." And Ole says, "One nut...heck, there are hundreds of them!"
For now, save the date Monday, June 20th, for the Installation of Officers for the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove. It will again be held at Lake Julian Trout Farm. More information will follow regarding time and caterer.
This year's Chamber outing will be held on Friday, August 12th at Chalet Hills Golf Club. Registration is $135 per golfer with a $20 early bird discount offered to those registering before 7/1. As in the past, it would be good to have at least one foursome from the club participate in this event. Registration is open at their website.

I've copied and pasted the verbiage from Governor Lyle's email that was sent earlier this morning. This is a great opportunity for you to get your business listed in the Rotary Business Directory. Simply click on the link below to add your establishment to the list:
"You might have heard that our District is partnering with D6450 and Rotary International on a pilot of a new opportunity for our members: The Rotary Network.
Rotary began as an opportunity for fellowship and to build business relationships that, ideally, would be advantageous to both parties. The Rotary Network is solution for today, a way for Rotarians to help other Rotarians, and that's particularly welcome in these challenging times. You and other Rotarians might be anxious about their business, or be looking for advice, connections, or even information about changing careers. That's why The Rotary Networkwas created. See the attached flyer and this video to learn more.
And if you're like me, retired, The Rotary Network is for you, too! You can share your experience with other Rotarians, or provide guidance to a member that is looking for a change. It's another way for us to be of service.
Please take a few minutes to check out therotarynetwork.org, and then list your business, add your comments, sign up as a mentor, or suggest other resources we should add. The Rotary Networkwill only be as good as we together make it!"
Earlier this year, the Village of Cary announced its partnership with The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove in the development of a new park, "Cary Lake at Rotary Park". The Rotary Club is pleased to announce that it has begun soliciting donations for the construction of a picnic shelter that will be located near the main parking area of this facility. The pavilion will provide another feature to the park for the benefit of everyone that visits for many years to come. The estimated cost of this project is $70,000. The club is seeking the support of community members and local business owners in order to bring this to a quick, successful completion. Contributions are being accepted at the Club's Go Fund Me Page: http://gf.me/u/y6kq5f.
Project updates will be posted to our website and FaceBook page as construction at the site progresses.
