Today’s Winner - Virtual 50/50
We had our “Virtual 50/50 Raffle” to help fund our support of Rotary International’s Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) program for 2021-22.

Of the random names drawn, Cindy (unable to be present) was our winner. She had Pat choose #17 on her behalf. The random program chose #15, so she did not win the “big pot”. The next drawings numbers will be from #1-#19.  Too bad Dave's name wasn't drawn--he would have won.

Remember, that if you are a participating member and are unable to attend, you may designate someone to represent you.  Members have the opportunity to change their minds regarding participation by contacting Cindy at CGRotary2020@gmal.com

Joke of the Week

The airliner was having engine trouble, so the cabin crew told the passengers to take their seats and prepare for an emergency landing, which they all did...except for a lawyer who went around passing out business cards.

RYLA Golf Outing Fundraiser
District 6440 will be hosting a golf outing on May 15th to benefit its RYLA program participants. The event will be held at Village Links Golf Course in Glen Ellyn. Visit their website for registration and additional information.
Rotary Park Pavilion
Earlier this year, the Village of Cary announced its partnership with The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove in the development of a new park, "Cary Lake at Rotary Park". The Rotary Club is pleased to announce that it has begun soliciting donations for the construction of a picnic shelter that will be located near the main parking area of this facility. The pavilion will provide another feature to the park for the benefit of everyone that visits for many years to come. The estimated cost of this project is $70,000. The club is seeking the support of community members and local business owners in order to bring this to a quick, successful completion. Contributions are being accepted at the Club's Go Fund Me Page: http://gf.me/u/y6kq5f

Project updates will be posted to our website and FaceBook page as construction at the site progresses.
Chamber Spring Golf Outing
The Chamber will be hosting a "First Swing" golf outing on Friday, April 30th at Foxford Hills Golf Club. The event will only be 9 holes and will begin with a shotgun start at 2:00pm. Online registration is now open at the link above. If you're interested in participating in the fun event, see Phil. Rumor has it, he's putting together a foursome,,, or two.
Rotary Network
I've copied and pasted the verbiage from Governor Lyle's email that was sent earlier this morning. This is a great opportunity for you to get your business listed in the Rotary Business Directory. Simply click on the link below to add your establishment to the list:

"You might have heard that our District is partnering with D6450 and Rotary International on a pilot of a new opportunity for our members: The Rotary Network.

Rotary began as an opportunity for fellowship and to build business relationships that, ideally, would be advantageous to both parties.  The Rotary Network is solution for today, a way for Rotarians to help other Rotarians, and that's particularly welcome in these challenging times.  You and other Rotarians might be anxious about their business, or be looking for advice, connections, or even information about changing careers.  That's why The Rotary Network was created.  See the attached flyer and this video to learn more.

And if you're like me, retired, The Rotary Network is for you, too!  You can share your experience with other Rotarians, or provide guidance to a member that is looking for a change.  It's another way for us to be of service.

Please take a few minutes to check out therotarynetwork.org, and then list your business, add your comments, sign up as a mentor, or suggest other resources we should add.  The Rotary Network will only be as good as we together make it!"

Rotary Action & Fellowship Groups
Rotarian Action Groups are autonomous groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who are experts in a particular field, such as micro-credit or water and sanitation. More information about these groups and their purpose can be found on RI's website.

Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends from around the world.  Again, more detailed information is available at this link to RI's website.

If you haven't all ready done so, take the time to click on the two links above and see if there may be a group that fits with your interests.  It's a great way to make new friends and to share common interests with Rotarians from around the world.
