We had no guests today, but the members present were a lively crowd.

Today's winner was Pat Finlon, but he didn't pull the black tee.  He did, however, contribute the side bets back to the club's charitable fund for the Foundation.

District 6440 will be conducting a Fall Training Day on Saturday, October 29th.  The event will be held at Wojcik Conference Center at Harper College.  The training will consist of a morning session and afternoon session. If you like BEER, the place to be is McHenry Sunrise Rotary’s OKTOBERFEST on Saturday, October 24th, at the McHenry VFW Post #4600. An impressive variety of local purveyors will be there to talk beer and offer samplings of their brews. Each admission will include a commemorative event mug on a lanyard, one free bratwurst with fresh chips provided by the VFW, and unlimited sampling during the event. Alan Anderson reported that District 6440 is looking for families that would be willing to host an Exchange Student for the coming year.  The Rotary Youth Exchange program provides thousands of young students with the opportunity to meet people from other countries and to experience new cultures, planting the seeds for a lifetime of international understanding.  If you are interested in being part of this program in the future, contact Alan.

A brunette and her blonde sister inherit a farm.  One day the brunette travels to a big agricultural show to buy a bull and quickly finds one she likes.  Unfortunately, the owner of the bull cannot deliver the animal and the brunette didn't bring the animal trailer.  The phone isn't working so she goes to the local telegraph office to send a message telling her sister to drive over with the animal trailer.  However, the telegraph office charges one dollar a word and the brunette finds she only has a single dollar on her.  The brunette thinks for a moment then says, "Send the message 'comfortable'."  Just 'comfortable'?" says the telegraph operator.  "How's that going to tell your sister to hitch a trailer to the car and pick up a bull?"  "She's blonde," replies the sister.  "She'll read it slowly."

One of President Steve's goals this year is to have at least one member join a Rotary Action Group or Rotary Fellowship Group.  As stated on RI's website, a Rotarian Action Group is an autonomous group of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who are experts in a particular field, such as micro-credit or water and sanitation. Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends from around the world.  Again, more detailed information is available at this link to RI's website.
