A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.
This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.

Growing up on his family's farm in Lusaka, Zambia, Muyatwa Sitali understood the power of water in his own life. His father grew corn, cabbage, and other crops, all of which depended on rainfall and irrigation. But it wasn't until Sitali began his Rotary Peace Fellowship that he came to realize the profound and far-reaching need for clean water globally.

Sadly, the Rotary Club of Cary-Grove has lost it's last charter member, Jack Renskers. On Saturday, December 12th, Jack went into cardiac arrest and was later removed from life support. All those who knew Jack feel a tremendous loss. He exemplified what it means to be "A Rotarian" and not just "in Rotary". It is apparent that "The Four Way Test" and "Spirit of Rotary" were foremost in his decisions and actions.
When our club was chartered back on January 21, 1970, Jack was a part of the founding membership and remained an Active Member in Rotary long into his retirement. Even as his health began to fail, he would try to make as many of our social events as possible. A special thank you goes out to his friend, Cindi Williams, for helping him to stay connected and keeping us informed of his status.

Each members is to bring a six-pack of craft beer. Members who's last name begins with A through K are to bring a bottle of white wine. Last names beginning with L through W are to bring a bottle of red wine
Vision Planning - Jack reported that some of the items raised in the vision planning session might need to be moved to different categories.
FRG Young Authors Judging - Documents for judging were distributed to the members who will be functioning in that capacity. The main event will be held on Friday, February 26. Club members are encouraged to attend.
Jack Renskers Memorial - Steve "C" reported that the board agreed to make a contribution of $13,000 to Rotary International in Jack's name.
This year's reverse raffle will be held at Galati's on March 16, 2016. Tickets for this event where distributed at the January 7th weekly meeting. If you were not present, please contact Steve Moore so that he can arrange to drop off your tickets. The focus for club membership this year is to sell their tickets and also get people to attend the event. While the money received from ticket sales represents the major portion of revenue for this event, the side raffles have potential for making this event even more successful.
The February social gathering will take place at Jameson's Charhouse on Thursday, February 25 beginning at 6:00 PM. We will be meeting in their small dinning room, which has a maximum seating of 20, so be sure to let Sue or Steve know in advance of your attendance.
Save the Date!! This year's District Conference will be held April 28th through May 1 at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. This year's event will include a golf outing on Thursday, the 28th. A dinner and theatre event will also take place on Thursday with a showing of "Evita". More details will follow concerning registration and cost as they become available, but for now, let's focus on getting a group from our membership to attend this enjoyable weekend.
One of President Steve's goals this year is to have at least one member join a Rotary Action Group or Rotary Fellowship Group. As stated on RI's website, a Rotarian Action Group is an autonomous group of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who are experts in a particular field, such as micro-credit or water and sanitation. More information about these groups and their purpose can be found on RI's website.
Rotary Fellowships are independent groups of Rotarians, family members, program participants and alumni who share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends from around the world. Again, more detailed information is available at this link to RI's website.
If you haven't all ready done so, take the time to click on the two links above and see if there may be a group that fits with your interests. It's a great way to make new friends and to share common interests with Rotarians from around the world.
The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove will be conducting a Winter Farmer's Market beginning Sunday, October 4th. The event will be held in-doors at the Algonquin Township offices located at 3702 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake Illinois. The market will be located in building #6 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 01:00 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month.
The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove’s membership is a diverse group of individuals that work together to improve the communities of Cary and Fox River Grove. If you are interested in learning more, or in getting involved, come as our guest to one of our morning meetings. We meet on Thursdays beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Cary Park District located at 255 Briargate Road, Cary Illinois. Visitors are always welcome.
