Senior Rotary leaders gathered Tuesday at the White House to honor 10 women for their service projects, an event attended by members of U.S. President Barack Obama's senior staff.
The Rotary members presented their projects, in the hopes of creating new inroads for government partnerships and support.
"This is recognition of the great work that they do but also serves as a great vehicle to inspire others to do similar kinds of things," said Rotary General Secretary John Hewko. "One of the things we're doing a better job of is sharing our story to the non-Rotary world."

This year's Fall District Training Seminar will be held at The Westin Chicago Northwest, 400 Park Blvd, Itasca, IL on Saturday, November 1. Please consider attending this event and on bringing what you learn back to the club. Training sessions such as this one are designed to help make individual clubs stronger.
ABC's of Rotary, Grants Management Seminar, Membership Summit and Secretary Training will all be held in the morning. All clubs have already paid for 3 people to attend. Participants are guaranteed to become more engaged Rotarians. Afternoon training is targeted for President-Elects and Assistant Governors.
While taxiing at London Gatwick, the crew of a US Air flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air crew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going! I told you to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta! Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between 'C' and 'D', but get it right!" Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now shouting hysterically: "God! Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour, and I want you to go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air 2771?" "Yes ma'am," the humbled crew responded.
Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771. Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground controller in her current state of mind. Tension in every cockpit out in Gatwick was definitely running high. Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: "Wasn't I married to you once?"

HOS embraces women to take control of their lives and be an active participant in buying that special gift for her child. This would never be possible without the gift of gift cards.

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove will be holding a Wine & Tapas Dinner fundraiser at Tapas Calpe' Orchard Prime Meats and Wine Shoppe. The event will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm. The menu for the evening will consist of salads, tapas, dessert and coffee along with wine, beer and other beverages. A selection of wines will be presented that evening and will be available to purchase at a special price of $15.00 per bottle. Owner Nick Domanico has graciously offered to contribute $5.00 for every bottle sold to the Rotary Club's Charitable Fund.

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove will be conducting a Winter Farmer's Market beginning Sunday, October 9th. The event will be held in-doors at the Algonquin Township offices located at 3702 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake Illinois. The market will be located in building #6 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month. The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove’s membership is a diverse group of individuals that work together to improve the communities of Cary and Fox River Grove.
