The Rotary Club of Carol Stream feels that education is the key to success.  The Club has awarded $5000 for the 2018 year.
The Rotary club of Carol Stream awarded $5000 to 3 Seniors in High School to continue their pursuit of their college dreams.  The students had to fill out a detailed application, which included their backgrounds and their  aspirations in college, their financial background, and their community service.  These students were then interviewed by a panel of Rotary members and chosen based on the responses they gave and their individual need.  The Rotary club is located in Carol Stream, so the students needed to live in the Village of Carol Stream.  The Village serves three major High Schools in the area. The following students were chosen to receive their awards for 2018:

Glenbard North High School:

Nishita Patel - $1000 – Plans on attending either UIC or Loyola.  She would like to major in biochemistry, attend medical school and become a pediatrician.  We are thankful for her service at Glenbard North which included Link Crew and tutoring in The Write Place and Science Resource.

Leah Miller - $3000 – Will be attending the University of Illinois in Champaign to study engineering.  She wants to use engineering to make the lives of people easier and safer.  Leah has been a leader in Glenbard North’s Girls Basketball program, a member of Link Crew and a PE leader.

West Chicago High School

Virali Shah - $1000 - Will be attending Marquette University with the goal of becoming a pediatrician.  She has been involved in RYLA, Interact and volunteers in her community at Central Dupage and her church youth group.

Glenbard North High School honors their winning recipients with an awards night where students were awarded their scholarships in the auditorium with family, friends, and parents.  We wish them luck in the future.
