Rotary club of Carol Stream kicks off Hoops for Hearts at local elememtary school
This year the Rotary club of Carol Stream kicked off another successful Hoops for Hearts  campaign at Heritage lakes elementary school.  The fundraiser has been going on since the early 1990's coordinated by the American Heart Association.  In the early 1990's there was a third grade student who died of an undiagnosed heart problem at school.  She inspired many families in the district to screen their children.  The fundraiser was organized to collect money for the research which has saved many since then.  The students, ages K-5th grade take their turns in the gym exercising and learning about keeping their bodies healthy and healthy lifestyles.  The Club kicked off the campaign by donating a check for $100 which inspires the kids to work hard at their fundraising efforts.  Multi-colored flags decorate the gym for almost 25 years that mark the years of the contribution efforts.
And the students have fun learning skills that will keep them and their families living healthy into the future.
