The Rotary Club of Carol Stream adds 5 new Little Lending Libraries around the community.
The Rotary Club of Carol Stream partnered with Jim Outland who constructed 5 new Little Lending Libraries to be installed in the community.  Members of the Club, some interested students and their librarian, District 93 superintendent Bill Shields, joined Jim at Western Trails elementary school on a very cold, blustery day to commemorate one of the new structures.  The library is a small house decorated like a Dr. Suess' A Cat in the Hat, and is filled with books that anyone can pick out and take home to read.  There are also two benches located close by to enjoy reading outdoors when the weather is good.  The students at the school are "assigned the duty" of managing the reading material regularly--keeping the books stocked with new material, making sure the material is appropriate, and in good shape.  Ten locations exist in Carol Stream which include Community Outreach Center on President, near the apartments on Kuhn and Lies, and CS Park District Nursery school on Elk Trail, among others.  Glenbard North industrial arts department created the first five libraries.  Stop by and read a book!
