Carol Stream club participates in the Rotary International President's initiative by planting 50 baby Oak trees.

As part of the 2017 Rotary International President's initiave, The Carol Stream Rotary Club planted two trees per active member.  There are  currently 24 active members in the club so 50 small Oak trees were planted.  Carol Stream hosts an outdoor Dog Park, part of the Carol Stream Parks and Recreation, that currently has no shade.  We hope that these trees will someday provide a very nice environment for the dogs and their owners to enjoy the fresh air.  The "trees" had no leaves and were only about 10 inches high.  Holes were dug, the trees were planted, and a small chicken wire cylinder barrier was put in place to protect them from animal disturbances.  Oak trees grow well in this area via a very deep tap root, so we hope that at least a percentage of them will take in their new home over the winter here in Illinois. The warm fall finish and start to the winter season, as well as a good amount of rain should help jumpstart the little saplings in their new environment.  Carol Stream Rotary giving back to our community.
