The Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove is proud to announce Carolyn Lewis as the recipient of the 2024 Bill Reid Community Service Award,  recognizing long-term commitment to the Buffalo Grove community.

Lewis was officially presented with the Bill Reid Award at the January 5 Buffalo Grove Village Board meeting. Lewis works as a Social Worker at Aptakisic Junior High School, is an active member of the BG Singers, and serves as Secretary of the Vernon Township Mental Health Board.

She was selected for the annual honor by the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove in recognition of her selfless efforts to support others in her community by running after school programs, collecting and distributing items for those displaced by the war in Ukraine, and her ongoing support of the Buffalo Grove Rotary’s annual Holiday Food Box program.

"I love living in Buffalo Grove, I love working in Buffalo Grove, and everything I do is for and around Buffalo Grove," Lewis said. "Being in the spotlight for something is not really my thing, it's very appreciated though, and I will continue to serve."

Bill Reid, the late Village Trustee, affectionately known as “Mr. Buffalo Grove,” was a charter member of the Rotary Club and a beacon of community service and dedication. In his memory, this award shines a light on the unsung heroes whose significant volunteer efforts have measurably impacted the community through substantial and continuous service.

In recognition of her achievement, the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove will make a donation of $500 in Carolyn’s name, $250 to the Rotary Foundation and $250 to the charity of her choosing, the Pinta Pride Project.
