Last Week was the First Business Meeting of the Shawn(2) Presidency.

We had a presentation by Scholarship winner, Julie Kim from South Korea.

 

Martha and Jeff Weiss met with Karen Baker from the Arlington Heights Rotary Club to hear about a project that they are partnering with the River Cities Club and we would also like to join in.  The project concerns a long term foster care home for girls 12-17 who are unaccompanied minors arriving in the US.  Maryville Academy is the agency heading this project and it is on a large piece of property in Arlington Heights that needs outdoor cleanup and landscaping.  We are looking for volunteers to join in the initial workday for the cleanup of a garden area so that the residents can enjoy the outdoor space.  Here are the details:

July 29th - Clean-up and mulching at long-term home for unaccompanied migrant girls at 800 N Fernandez Ave, Arlington Heights 9 am - 12:30 pm

 

August 1st - Park District's  National Night Out on Tuesday from 5:30-8:30 pm at Willow Stream Park, we need volunteers to sell duck tickets and talk about our club.

 

 

August 27th -Park District's Environmental Action Team's Green Fair on Sunday,  from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm at Mike Rylko Park next to the Farmers Market.   We need volunteers for our booth to sell duck tickets and talk about our club.

 

October 25 - Bowling with Buddies at Bowlero 6-8 pm
