Last Week's Meeting

Last week Matt Pomilia gave a very moving talk about the organization that he is the Latin America Director for, Round River Conservation Studies.  This organization, as their website states, "employs the principles of conservation biology to formulate strategies that provide our partner communities, organizations and governments a well-founded scientific basis for their long-term conservation efforts.  Recognizing that wild places are important in and of themselves, Round River is dedicated to the conservation of those increasingly rare vast landscapes, their inherent wildness and the ecological complexity that sustains them and inspires us."  Matt explained how his experiences led him to this organization and why he believes in their mission.  Round River believes wild landscapes are powerful educators. In Africa, Asia, and North, Central and South America, they offer environmental study abroad programs designed to involve small groups of students in ongoing community and ecological research projects, finding and implementing solutions to real wildlife conservation and sustainability issues.  Thank you Matt for sharing your amazing work with this organization!

PLEASE pick a location that works for you if you already haven’t, and do put down a planned date you plan to visit. It’s always a good idea to reach out to the club through their websites (just Google the name and it should pop up right away) to let them know you are going to be visiting.

Thanks so much!
