Last week club member and Executive Director of the Indian Trails Library Brian Shepard explained the $14.4 million renovation project, which includes expansion and interior remodeling of the library.  The library completed engineering studies on the building in 2010 and 2013 and community focus groups in 2012. These studies determined there were several mechanical and building issues that needed to be resolved for the building to operate as cost-efficiently as possible. For example, it currently is an all electric building that is very inefficient for heating and cooling. The library also lacks sufficient meeting and classroom space to serve members’ needs. The current building is 46,000 square feet, which is inadequate to serve a population of 67,000. Almost 15,000 square feet will be added to the building.  The library is expected to reopen in spring of 2017 and from the slideshow that we saw, will be totally awesome!
