Rotary Supports Our Community with Mobile Food Pantry

Buffalo Grove Rotary proudly hosted a second Mobile Food Pantry this year, in partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank, on Saturday, June 5 at Mike Rylko Park. The first Mobile Food Pantry took place January 30 and was funded by the club and served 200 families. The most recent event was made possible by a generous, and anonymous, Buffalo Grove resident. The Rotary club provided 21 volunteers and were humbled to serve nearly 100 individuals in need of food. Cars filed in off of McHenry Road and drove through the parking lot in front of the Spray ‘N Play as Rotarians loaded food and other household items.

Are you interested in making a difference in your community? If so, consider learning more about the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club and how we impact the world locally, and internationally.  Our motto is ‘Service Above Self’. Be our guest for lunch! Email info@bgrotary.org.

Thursday's Meeting is In-Person and a Zoom Meeting

Mobile Food Pantry Distribution and Blue Star Recyclers Ribbon Cutting
On Saturday, June 6th, about 21 of our members and other volunteers were able to partner with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to deliver food to nearly 100 local individuals. This was all made possible due to the generosity of anonymous donor who funded the Mobile Food Pantry at Mike Rylko Park.  Thank you to all who participated.

Then several members joined Rotarians from District 6440 to attend a ribbon cutting at Blue Star Recyclers located here in Buffalo Grove.  This organization ethically recycles electronics and computers by employing autistic workers, and others with disabilities, who typically can’t get gainful employment elsewhere.  Several Rotary clubs, including ours, have made donations to this organization and many clubs have sponsored local recycling events with Blue Star.

Our Golf Outing with SLSF on August 11
We had another successful golf outing with Special Leisure Services Foundation last week.  Due to the rain at the beginning of the outing, the traditional golf ball drop with the cooperation of the fire department was not held.  Instead the participants threw the balls and three experts (Bo, Carmen and Kathy) determined the winners.  The weather cleared and it was another beautiful day (thanks Lisa).  Thanks to the golf committee and to the staff at SLSF who did a great job organizing.
