Last week our speaker was Michael Papierniak from eWorks Electronics Services Inc., a non-profit e-waste management company that recycles, refurbishes, and resells electronic equipment and creates employment opportunities for people with disabilities. They are national, with their midwest location opening a year and a half ago in Wheeling. Our members brought electronic devices to the meeting to donate and if you want more information, please click HERE.
Concern to keep our organizers of the Thanksgiving food drive warm, Pete,Shawn, Glenn and Bo (not at meeting) were given Rotary scarves at the meeting compliments of our club for their amazing service.
Due to the holiday on December 25, we will not be holding our regular meeting. Instead, we will be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville for anyone that is interested on Saturday, December 27th.
Feel free to register your families and loved ones so we can make this a special event and a good reason for us to get together before the end of the year. Space is limited. We only have 20 total spots available to reserve for this packing session.
Thank you to our club members, Wheeling Rotarians, Buffalo Grove High School students, community volunteers and all who helped distribute over 150 boxes of food to families in need before the holiday. It is a great tradition that our two clubs have done jointly over the years to brighten up many families' holiday.
Message from Emily Petway from GiveNKing that our club supports:
We are seeing a heavy increase in orders and goods coming in our door as the holidays are upon us and the community need is heightened. To meet the need and our desire to move more product out so more can come in, we are looking to increase the number of volunteers we have during our regular volunteer hours this holiday season. Volunteer sessions are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at GiveNKind (1000 Asbury Dr., Suite 5, Buffalo Grove). Sign up here:www.givenkind.org/volunteer
Please sign up invidually if you can help - they could not accomodate us as a group.
