This week we will learn about Buffalo Grove Village's new website from two of our members, Molly and Tim from the Village's Department of Communications and Community Engagement.
Last week, we heard from our three amazing scholarship recipients who told us about their commitment to service during their high school years. Our scholarship criteria emphasizes our Rotary motto, "Service Above Self" and these students have certainly exemplified service. Maya Belorusskiy is a Buffalo Grove High graduate, who will major in international political economics at Georgetown University, Stone Yan is a Stevenson High School graduate and will pursue a medical career at Duke University, and Taylore Camel is a Buffalo Grove High graduate who will study international business/marketing at University of Tampa. All three students were impressive in their commitment to service in our community. Pictured below are the recipients, the recipients and the Scholarship Committee and the recipients and their guests at our meeting.
Hetal and Juliet are heading up the parade committee this year for our participation in the BG Days parade, September 1st. Please look for an email to volunteer for this very fun event along with other BG Days events. The parade route will head south on Buffalo Grove Road (from Thompson) and then west on Deerfield Parkway, ending at Mike Rylko Park where the rest of the BG Days activities are held. Hetal will tell you more details about what time to gather, etc. The parade starts at noon and it is a great event!! Bring your family members!!
Past President Shawn was sworn in as the Fire Department's Deputy Chief at the Village Hall on Monday, July 15. Also, Past President Brett was honored on his retirement after 38 years of service to the Village. Congratulations to both!
