Thursday's Meeting is Both In Person and Zoom 
Please see President Melanie's email yesterday regarding our meeting on Thursday that is both in-person at Continental Restaurant and Zoom meeting. She gave a link for a lunch order if you are meeting in person and wish to eat lunch. Place your order by noon on Wednesday.  Our speaker is Elise Steffe / Special Gifts Theater (Grant Recipient).


 
Save the Date For Environmental Project May 8th
Outreach Committee has the following event coming up:
 
Saturday, May 8th - Environmental project - Plant Green Lake Park! 
Meet at noon at the parking lot for Green Lake Park, 1101 Green Knolls Dr. and bring work gloves if you have them, insect repellent and sunscreen if necessary.  The project will be approximately 2-3 hours and please bring family members!  We will be planting native pollinator plants in the cottonwood grove, swale and at the pond shorelines.  This park has been recently renovated and is really a jewel in our community.  Please contact Lisa at ldsiwek@comcast.net if you are willing to help out with this project.  This is a cooperative project sponsored by us, the Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Team, the Buffalo Grove Garden Club and Lake County Stormwater Management Commission and we would like to see as many volunteers as possible.  Will be fun and butterfly friendly!  -Martha and Jeff Weiss
 
 
Announcement about Ak' Tenamit Dates
From Dan Wolf:  We have planned a service trip to Ak' Tenamit for October 15-24, 2021!  
 
BG Club members and their immediate family members can secure a spot on the trip by letting us know by April 1, 2021.  After that date we will open up the trip to other D.6440 Rotarians and guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
More details will follow.  The exact cost of the trip is TBD, but will be very close to the $1750/pp cost of recent years.
 
Participants must be fully COVID vaccinated.

Community Grant Applications Are Being Sought
Community Grant Committee Chair Deenie has announced that the 2021 Community Grant Application is up and running on the Rotary Website.  She will be contacting the previous winners, but if you know of a local organizations operating as charitable, faith-based or not-for-profit agencies with a 501(c)3 designation, please contact them to tell them they are eligible to apply for one-time grants of up to $2,500.  Projects must be initiated by the applying non-profit organization and contribute to Rotary's focus on community service, which includes projects and activities taken to improve life in the Buffalo Grove area.  Applications are due by May 30, 2021.  For more information, please contact Grants Committee Chair Deenie Pomilia at (847) 533-6605 or grants@bgrotary.org.
