This week our scholarship recipients will be in attendance to talk to us about their service during their high school years and their plans for the future.
Last week, President Brian conducted his first meeting as President. Mike S. said he wanted to add more "frolic" in FunNFrolics, so had us play a fun card game. We welcomed a former member of our club, Carey Savitt, who is now a resident of Colorado, and who we encouraged to join us in the future on Zoom. President Brian talked about his professional and personal life as a background for the newer members of our club who may not know him. He said he chose to become a Rotarian because of his aunt who was a polio survivor. President Brian explained the international theme for his year, The Magic of Rotary, and mentioned his goals for our club for the year. He asked Glenn to talk about his experience as a Rotarian for 46 years in our club. It was a great meeting to reflect on the past and the future of our club.
Our Past President Shawn's promotion to Deputy Chief will be celebrated at the Village Hall at 7 pm on Monday, July 15 - see below for details. If you are available to attend, it would be great to show our support for Shawn and for former member Brett as he is honored on his retirement.
From the Village news:
The Village of Buffalo Grove will celebrate leadership retirements and promotions with a reception at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 15 in the lobby of Village Hall, located at 50 Raupp Boulevard, prior to the 7:30 p.m. Village Board meeting.
The reception will bid farewell to Fire Chief Mike Baker who retired after 45 years of fire service - the past 11 years with Buffalo Grove - as well retiring Administrative Services Director Brett Robinson who has served the village for 38 years. The reception will also celebrate the evening’s promotions that include Deputy Chief Larry Kane to Fire Chief and Battalion Chief Shawn Collins to Deputy Chief.
The public is invited to attend and share their best wishes Baker and Robinson and congratulate Kane and Collins on their promotions. Dessert and light refreshments will be served.
Keep these dates in mind to help man the booths we will have to increase awareness of our amazing club. Martha will be circulating sign up sheets for these events:
