Last Weeks Meeting

Last week Rich Rosen from the Wheeling Club talked to us about the importance of reading to young children. He explained that early childhood literacy saves a child from a life of poverty and crime. He is involved in an initiative to supply hospitals with books to give to new moms that contains stickers on the inside expressing the benefits of reading to their children. Rich has an obvious passion for early childhood literacy and we thank him for all he is doing in that area.

Volunteer Opportunites

Message from Emily Petway from GiveNKing that our club supports:

We are seeing a heavy increase in orders and goods coming in our door as the holidays are upon us and the community need is heightened. To meet the need and our desire to move more product out so more can come in, we are looking to increase the number of volunteers we have during our regular volunteer hours this holiday season. Volunteer sessions are available on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at GiveNKind (1000 Asbury Dr., Suite 5, Buffalo Grove).

The Buffalo Grove Community Foundation (we partner with them for our community grants) is hosting a meaningful concert on November 20 at the Community Arts Center at 6 pm. There is no charge for this concert and you can get tickets at buffalogrove.foundation

We have our Thanksgiving food packing that evening, but please tell your friends/family members about it.

Weekly Donations

Glenn will be collecting these items for Greener Good.

Bring in Dice, game pieces, paper grocery bags, crochet hooks, buttons, scissors, maps, postcards, and old playing cards for Greener Good. Yes Dennis D. we don't need to be playing with a full deck partial works just fine.

Bring in hygiene products for BGHS Comfort Closet.

Martha needs books, especially children's books, for the Little Free Library we installed in Martha Weiss Park.
