Last week Nanette Sowa told us of her extensive travel plans during her Member Moment, we sang our traditional birthday song to Bill, Nanette and Sita, and Pete stumped us with space travel trivia during Fun NFrolics. Our speakers were Sarah Heimsoth, Youth Services Manager from Indian Trails Library, and Amy Breiler, Director of Teaching and Learning for Literacy from CCSD21 who told us about how extremely pleased they were with the Literacy Nights held at the library. Family Literacy Nights bring together students, parents, and educators for an evening of storytelling, activities and shared learning. These events not only foster a love for reading but also strengthen family bonds and build a supportive community around our young learners. The events brought many families into the library who had never been there, many new library cards were issued, and our donations of books provided each student with a book of their own choosing that they could keep. Ryann Uden, Deputy Director at the library, also attended our meeting. Thank you all for such wonderful programs you offer our community! |
