Last Week's Meeting
Last week we heard a very compelling presentation from Carol Wells (Wilmette Harbor), the End Polio Now Chair for District 6440.  Did you know that our club has already donated $2,000 to the End Polio Now initiative for 2016-17?  We've already committed $35 per member this year!
 
Carol is looking for all of us to step up and provide a total of $60 per member for this year's goal.  Will you join President Dane in giving another $25 to help us end polio forever?  It's fast and easy and can be done on the End Polio Now website.  Even better, your additional contribution counts toward your Paul Harris Fellow points! 
 
If you can, please help us achieve this milestone goal and #bethechange!
May 11, Fireside Meeting, No Lunch Meeting
President Elect Ryan will have his Fireside meeting on Thursday, May 11 at 6 pm at the Arboretum Golf Club.  There will not be a lunch meeting that day.  If you are unsure if you can attend, you can still email him up until two days before the meeting.  rrisinger@bgparks.org
 
Please be sure to fill out the survey to share your thoughts as Ryan plans to present the results of the club survey at his Fireside meeting.
 
May 18 meeting to be held at the Indian Trails Library
Please mark your calendars that our May 18 meeting with be a joint meeting with the Wheeling Club, and we will meet at the renovated Indian Trails Library at our regular time, 12:15.  Lunch catered by  Pete's Continental Restaurant.

           "i walk" TO FIGHT AGAINST COMMUNITY HUNGER
 
On Sunday June 25th the NW Suburban Interfaith Council will host its 4th annual 5K family walk..to raise funds to support four of our local food pantries - three being located in Buffalo Grove and all serving Buffalo Grove and its surrounding communities.
 
The event starts with registration at 1:15 pm  The walk starts at 2:00 pm at the parking area of St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove.  This family event will stop by Hope Lutheran Church halfway through the walk to cool off for refreshments and entertainment.
 
There is no entry fee, though any cash or check contribution would be most welcomed to help feed those in need at a time when pantry supplies are low and the demand from those in need is great.
 
No pets please.... those under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult
Our Club's Community Grants
Please see the homepage of our website for information about the community grants that our club is offering.  There is a link to the application in the story.  Also, the Community Grants Chair, Deenie, will be sending out an individual email to each member with the application attached.  This is a great opportunity for us to support our local agencies that do so much for our community.
Our Club offers Academic Scholarships

Scholarship grants in the one-time amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to support educational programs preparing students for careers with a four-year degree. Grants require acceptance into a Bachelor Degree college program.

APPLICANTS MUST BE A CURRENT STUDENT OR PRIOR GRADUATE AT EITHER BUFFALO GROVE HIGH SCHOOL OR ADLAI E. STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL.
