As President Lisa said in her email, thank you to all who participated in the Thanksgiving food box program. A special "Thank You" to Shawn, Bo, and Pete for their work in coordinating the details with the high school, social workers, food bank, Garden Fresh, knitting groups, and obtaining stuffed animals. It is a truly collaborative effort with the Wheeling Club, with many moving parts. Here is the recap: We provided the following food over two days: Thursday, Nov 17, 2022 - Total 93 Food Packages Saturday, Nov 19, 2022 - 9-11 AM - Total 57 Food Packages 8 extra NIFB Meals delivered to area social workers to be given to families 2 extra NIFB Meals given to large families The following e-mails were received from families who picked up food: "muchas gracias a nombre mio y de mis hijos Dios bendiga a este pais" which translates to: thank you very much on behalf of me and my children God bless this country and "I just want to say thank you, so much. I had to pull over and cry for a minute after pulling away. I did not expect the level generosity and kindness you all provided. The students with the hand knitted hats and scarves made my heart swell. The donated stuffed animals. The vouchers for garden fresh, and the boxes of food.... I am overwhelmed with gratitude and happiness that kindness is still alive and well in this world. Our family lost everything to fire thanksgiving weekend of 2020. We were uninsured and everything we owned and our 3 pets, were lost. We are fighting to keep our heads above water and recover. Thank you so much for the amazing holiday help. It means more to us than I can express. Please pass my thanks along to all of your components that made this possible. I am truly to thankful for all of you. ♡ " Thank you all for your help and support of the program and for helping to make Thanksgiving brighter to the families served! Shawn and Bo |
