Rotary District 6440 Governor Rick Reigner visited our Club. He gave five strategic suggestions for clubs: sharing personal Rotary stories, telling the stories behind service projects, having partners share testimonials, tailoring social media to younger audiences, and wearing Rotary "swag" to spark conversations about the work we do. Additionally, he recognized our club member and Public Image Chair Tim Kirsininkas with the Governor's "Unsung Hero" Award for his work behind the scenes sharing our Club's story and updates on social media.
Thank you to club members who attended World's Largest Polio Walk on Saturday! Thanks so much for the great support that our club members gave to the World's Largest Polio Walk that was organized with our club, Arlington Heights, Wheeling, Palatine and River Cities. Thanks especially to Martha, Juliet and Cass who served on the five-club committee that planned the event. Also special thanks to Hetal who was the official photographer, Sita who was our videographer, State Senator Adriane Johnson, our honorary club member who was a speaker and Deenie, our official purple pinkie painter. It was beautiful weather at Lake Arlington and we did our part to help End Polio Now.
Club members continue to represent BG Rotary at the Indian Trails Public Library's Family Literacy Nights! Cass shares this photo from Monday night's event of Deb, Martha, Randy, Laura, and Jason ready to inspire a love of reading with free books for young readers!
Bowling with Buddies is THIS THURSDAY from 6 - 8 p.m.! This annual event, hosted by the Rick Kahen Commission for Residents with Disabilities in partnership with our club and Lucky Strike (formerly Bowlero), provides free bowling and dinner for all participants. Rotarian help is still needed! Club members are asked to report to the bowling alley by 5:15, and the evening will start with a short presentation on what to expect. With a Halloween theme and costumes encouraged, it’s sure to be an unforgettable night of community, laughter, and inclusion! Please contact Bo Balinski with any questions. Sign up to volunteer here.
Deenie is once again graciously serving as the host for the next New Member Orientation Night on Monday, November 9 from 6-8 p.m. at her home, 414 Chatham Circle in Buffalo Grove. All new club members are highly encouraged to attend to learn all about our Clubs various events, roles, and functions - this is a great way to discover your "spark" and find your footing with our club! A pizza dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to attend here.
Stephen and Dan are excited to announce the dates for the next Ak’ Tenamit project: The trip will be Saturday, February 20 through Tuesday, March 2, 2027.
BG Rotarians making their first trip to Ak’ Tenamit are eligible for a club subsidy of up to $1500. Limited spots available. Please contact Stephen or Dan to reserve your spot.
Thank you to those club members who continue to contribute to the Buffalo Grove High School Comfort Closet. This is a discreet service at the high school to assist those students who do not experience the privilege of all they need for personal hygiene and care at home due to circumstances. Please keep us in mind for your donations of these new, unused items you may have at home. Such items are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion, feminine products, deodorant, etc. Also, your cash donations to Deenie on their behalf are so appreciated and make a difference in their life. Items are purchased at GiveNKind for pennies on the dollar. Please bring donations to our Rotary meetings and Deenie will collect them.
