Last Week's Meeting
Last week was our business meeting and as part of the encouragement for our members and their families and friends to participate in the World's Largest Polio Walk on Ctober 24, Martha gave a presentation about Rotary's involvement in eradicating polio and her experience at a National Immunization Day (NID) in India in 2005, and Stephen told us about the 2013 Nigerian NID he participated in.

Stephen and Dan Honored at District Conference
Club members Stephen and Dan were honored at Rotary District 6440's District Conference Saturday with an International Service Award for their volunteer leadership at service projects in Ak' Tenamit in Guatemala.  This school has been widely recognized for its effective grassroots approach to vocational education, income generation, and health care.  Buffalo Grove Rotary's involvement has been a multi-decade, multi-faceted humanitarian effort combining direct service, infrastructure projects, education, and community development, supported by local fundraising and volunteer participation.
President Jason was a speaker at the district, giving a talk about how clubs can use AI as an aid.

Our Club Members Volunteering at Library Literacy Event

World's Largest Polio Walk Oct. 24
Our club committee of Martha, Juliet and Cass are meeting with members of the Arlington Heights Club (the lead club), and the Palatine, Wheeling and River Cities Clubs to plan our walk on October 24, 2026 at 10 am when Rotarians from Zones 25b & 29 will be participating in the World's Largest Polio Walk.  District 6440 is encouraging us to be a part of this event with 22 other districts across 13 states and two countries.  This will be a fun comunity walk at Lake Arlington to raise awareness of Rotary's End Polio Now campaign and to fundraise for it.  Have you and your guests signed up yet?

Comfort Closet at BG High Needs Donations
Thank you to those club members who continue to contribute to the Buffalo Grove High School Comfort Closet. This is a discreet service at the high school to assist those students who do not experience the privilege of all they need for personal hygiene and
care at home due to circumstances. Please keep us in mind for your donations of these new, unused items you may have at home. Such items are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion, feminine products, deodorant, etc. Also, your cash donations to Deenie on their behalf are so appreciated and make a difference in their life. Items are purchased at GiveNKind for pennies on the dollar. Please bring donations to our Rotary meetings and Deenie will collect them.

Weekly Donations
We are also collecting items for Greener-good.org.
