Jing provided Fun n Frolics last week. Juliet inducted our newest member Gia Miller of Dakota K.
Jason introduced 4 of the RYLA Buffalo Grove High participants, along with 2 BGHS administrators. The students all spoke about how they enjoyed the guest speakers and counselors at RYLA. The administrators look forward to having more students take part with RYLA in future years. We also had the principal of Wheeling High School join our meeting. Tom K. told her how he enjoyed his 6 years as a student at WHS.
Our Speaker was Katelyn Malartsik, who is one of the teachers at BGHS who operate the BGHS Comfort Closet. Regularly they provide products of toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, floss, makeup remover, tampons, deodorant, dryer sheets, bandages, etc. Almost anything a family could use for personal hygiene. Rotary has provide funds to help maintain their closet. Anytime you have products you want to donate, bring to our regular meeting.
Juliet, Jason, Santosh and Martha would like help in planning and participating in this walk on October 24, 2026 at 10 am when Rotarians from Zones 25b & 29 will be participating in the World's Largest Polio Walk. District 6440 is encouraging us to be a part of this event with 22 other districts across 13 states and two countries to raise awareness about Polio.
Stephen and Dan are excited to announce the dates for the next Ak’ Tenamit project: The trip will be Saturday, February 20 through Tuesday, March 2, 2027.
Buffalo Grove Rotarians (and family members) will have priority until May 31, 2026. After that, space will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.
BG Rotarians making their first trip to Ak’ Tenamit are eligible for a club subsidy of up to $1500. Please contact Stephen or Dan to reserve your spot!
The Rotary Club of Northbrook and Glenview clubs are hosting an event on Thursday May 28th (6:30 to 7:45pm) at the Glenview Public Library. Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton will be presenting State of Cook County. Contact Juliet for reservations and more information.
